Dr. Kalya Castillo

I am a New York City-based psychologist licensed in both New York and Connecticut who provides therapy to adolescents and adults. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and stress related to areas such as family dynamics, relationships, multicultural issues (i.e. race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality), identity development, and academic/career pressure. My passions include working with women on issues related to motherhood and finding life balance, as well as young adults navigating emerging adulthood.

In addition to private practice, I provide assessment and therapy treatment to individuals with chronic illness at New York Health and Hospital’s Jacobi Medical Center. I am an adjunct assistant professor with City University of New York (CUNY) and teach within graduate counselor education/school counseling and undergraduate psychology departments.

My clinical experiences have been within a variety of settings including hospitals, school-based clinics, and college counseling centers. They include New York Health and Hospital’s Jacobi Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, Weill Cornell Medicine, Hackensack University Medical Center Hospital, University of Michigan, and City University of New York.  Additionally, as a New York City native, I enjoy using my free time to explore new eateries and coffee shops throughout the city with my family.
